Absence Makes the Heart Grow Fonder

Helloooo lovely readers. I know, I know, I didn't write. I didn't call. I just left you without anything to read wondering what happened. Well, no worries. I am back now.

In all seriousness its been a fairly busy last two weeks. My sister had a baby, and I got to be there to watch my sweet little nephew come into the world. Aside from my own babies being born being there when my nephew was born was the most amazing experiences of my life. I have to say it was definitely more fun to be in the cheering section rather than the stirrups.

As you know by this point in our relationship, I am a military spouse. That means I do not live near my family. My kiddos and I drove from Las Vegas, Nevada to Temple, Texas to support my sister. Not sure if you have ever traveled with kids, but its not easy or expedient by any means. Traveling has gotten immensely easier now that my kiddos are older, but still no simple task and that was challenge number one.

Challenge number two was having to flex our timeline. I had planned to be there about five days and ended up being there almost eight. Babies don't like to stick to a schedule and labor can be unpredictable. My sweet, adorable nephew took his time making his grand entrance leaving my sister in labor for nearly thirty hours. For those of you who have had experience being in a labor and delivery room sleeping on the uncomfortable couches rather than the bed you have my sympathies.

Boy was that a 'time marches on' moment for me. I am officially to the age where my body does not handle sleeping outside of my own bed well. Despite the discomforts of the couch, having to survive off hospital and fast food, and the unexpected timeline extension, the experience as a whole was amazing. I got to cut the cord and that was insanely cool.

When we got back, I got slammed with a head cold and had to catch up on a ton of work that went undone during the birth of my nephew. So, I took the following week to recover and play catch up.

Excited to be back. Stay tuned for more regular post. As always, give it a look, give it a like, give it a share and thank you so much for being here.
